A True Story
Greetings! I wish to tell you about my PC or prostate cancer. I hope there is something in my story that can benefit you.
Diagnosis
My life changed on 1 April 2013. I discovered I had stage 4 prostate cancer of the worst kind with a PSA score of 2,502 ng/ml (normal is 0 - 4 ng/ml). An MRI, a bone scan, 2 ultrasound and an X-ray diagnosis confirmed the cancer had spread to my skull, neck, upper and lower back, some ribs, many lymph nodes. The biopsy of my prostate tissues showed a Gleason Score of 8 out of 10. This score signaled how soon I would die of prostate cancer. My urologist and oncologist gave me up to 4 months to live if without treatment.
A week after diagnosis, I took this picture at a photo-studio for use in my own obituary...before I looked thin and sickly with the progress of my cancer.
Medical Treatment
The doctors gave me a palliative treatment. My cancer was widespread.
It consisted of an anti-hormonal injection plus a drug in tablet form to increase its effectiveness. They gave me another injection to build my bones as they saw several vertebrae were badly eaten by the cancer. They also gave me a potent narcotic-like pain killer in tablet form for pain relief. The purpose of the drugs was to relieve or lessen without curing. I had no surgery, radiation or chemotherapy.
My daughter is an urologist. She lives in London. She does not practice anymore. So she consulted her specialist friends practicing urology and oncology in the UK. They could do nothing else for me. They shared her view: "Just live one day at a time.”
I Had Pain
The pain did not go off. I could not get into a car normally. I had to grasp the ceiling grab handle and lowered myself carefully on to the car seat each time. Otherwise, it would be painful. At night, I would wake up when turning or when pulling my blanket to cover myself because of aches. Similarly, it would be painful when getting up to go to the toilet and again when lying down to sleep after that.
I Prayed
I was lost; numb. Nowhere to turn to but GOD. I prayed. Every waking moment I had at night, I prayed.
GOD Answered My Prayers
To cut my story short, I believe GOD heard and answered my prayers.
First, He gave me the wisdom to accept Christ as my Lord and Savior. I became a Christian with the help of my urologist. He is still the chairman of the Baptist church I belong to now.
Second, two weeks after my diagnosis, I believe GOD led me to contact my Japanese friend of more than 35 years to tell him about my cancer and sought his advice. This friend had been telling me about his blood-conditioning, food supplements which I call "E+V" for many years but I did not listen to him.
He advised me through an email to immediately change my diet to one that was vegetarian and to exercise daily. I later flew to Japan to visit him. I started on his products then.
"E+V" are classified as food in Japan. They are made by fermenting grains and beans such as black soybeans, wheats, rice brans, barleys, rice germs with an organic Aspergillus oryzae. The process was protected by an international patent.
Third, it is common for cancer sufferers to search the Internet for information on their diseases and alternative treatments. I did mine, focusing on food for cancer treatment.
GOD Was Gracious
With GOD's grace I stumbled on a few items that had helped me. I am taking them till this day. They are broccoli, tomatoes, pomegranate, fermented soya bean and green tea. They work well with one another to produce a better effect than individually. They affect cancer cells mainly by suppressing intracellular inflammation.
I take these foods daily with "E+V". In addition, I exercise regularly, often six times a week. I do all these in combination with my doctors’ palliative treatment.
The Result
I have been getting good results.
Doctors use the Prostate Specific Antigen or PSA Test to check my cancer. I am thankful to GOD for blessing me with a PSA of 0.2 ng/ml. It dropped to that figure from 2,502 ng/ml, a decrease of 99.99%. I have been having the low PSA level for the past
As a pharmacist, I am always wary about taking drugs because of side effects. Soon after, I sought the permission of my urologist and oncologist to drop two expensive medications. They were reluctant at first because of concerns for my terminal disease. They relented after seeing the repeats of my good PSA results. I have saved a lot of money since then.
Now, I do not have pain at my neck or back. I can exercise with weights without discomfort. A new hobby I have is playing drums. I can sit on a stool which does not have any back support and play the drums for hours without problems.
Sharing
I first shared my testimony with about 400 people at a church service one Sunday morning on the encouragement of my church elders. Immediately after that, some people approached me for particulars of my diet. To share, I created a WhatsApp group. Over several months, I wrote the details on what, how and why I chose the items to eat for my advanced prostate cancer.
The WhatsApp group called "Yap's Diet" has now grown to more than 50 members. They are not only from Malaysia but Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, Switzerland, UK and USA too. At first, I could copy my past messages from WhatsApp for each new member. But as the number of people grew, it was not practical to do the same. I then created the website, YapsDiet.com. You may visit it for more information.
Helpful For Patients
Over these years, several cancer patients heard about my diet. They, too, were like me when I was lost; desperately looking for something that might work for their cancers. They sought my advice. I was then able to share not only my diet but how GOD had touched me. Among them were nine people with prostate cancer, five others with breast cancer, two with colon cancer, one with uterine cancer, one with lung cancer, one with brain cancer and another one with bile-duct plus liver cancer.
What I Am Doing Now
With GOD’s grace and mercy, I am living one day at a time with my palliative treatment, "E+V", diet and exercises.
Recently, a friend posted a song on WhatsApp. It’s called One Day At A Time. It applies much to my life now. I wish to share it with you.
One Day At A Time
One day at a time, sweet Jesus I'm only human Show me the stairway |
One day at a time, sweet Jesus Yesterday's gone, sweet Jesus |
Do you remember Cheating and stealing |
Now, I do not know whether my experience is of any use to you. If it does and you wish to learn more, please let me know.
Thank you for reading this long message.
GOD bless.
